Beautiful Gray Skies

Some people

don't appreciate

blankets of gray clouds

covering the sky

shrouding the sun.

To these people

I suggest moving

to Arizona.

There the clouds

are unicorns,

rare wisps.

People wish for them,

dance for them,

even wash their cars

because they believe

if enough people

bathe their cars

the monsoons

will chase the sun away.

Arizonans love the clouds

because they don't have them.

We hate the clouds

because they come too often.

But, I sit,

watch them

glide by

while listening

to crickets and toads

at peace.

No sunblock required.
