Cloak of Night

Some fear the night,

terrified of the unseen.

But, I? I embrace it.

Wrap it around me like a cloak,

gaze up into the hood

filled with stars and galaxies

encircling the crescent moon.

It's so cold I see my breath.

Yet still I sit.

Yes it's warmer, safer

to sit out in the day,

but it’s so bright

I can't see the constellations

or wish on shooting stars.

In the darkness

there is hope,

need for faith,

dreams.

It is in here

we forge ourselves.

A person standing beneath the night sky, with a cloak made of shimmering stars or galaxies draped over them. The cloak could symbolically represent the night itself, wrapping them in its mystery and beauty.
